I just got the xps 15 l502x and I was following the on screen prompts to set up a Dell admin pw but for some reason in the middle of doing so, I bypassed it. So now I'm not sure what the password is. I tried the default "Dell" one but it didn't work.

I'm under the impression that this PW is technically a bios PW?

Any way to resolve this? Do I have to call them to reset it?

    Thank you for your insight.

You need to provide more detail about what you did. Did you create a Windows password for your Administrator account? You mentioned BIOS password, so I don't know what you did.

    Nvm I figured it out.

Btw I too am in Toronto (just outside of it).

Nice to see a fellow Canuck.

Btw what power option are you on? I'm alternating between the dell option and the balanced one. Trying to find the best one to minimize the triggering of the fan.

I actually use maximum performance for all components. The fan is well behaved.

Max performance even when on battery?

Also are you mostly on the integrated gpu or the nvidia one?

Sorry for the plethora of questions but you helped me with your advice regarding revo uninstaller and CCleaner.

    Thanks.

I'm not often on battery, mostly on AC. As for GPU, at this point the system is managing what is in use. I haven't yet manually assigned any applications to the NVIDIA GPU.

You can change power plans, but I can tell you that using max performance with the battery is not that bad.

For NVIDA GPU, depends you can set it in the profile, is not that hard. I mostly use it for browser and video games nothing else. GL :)

Hi Im installing software on my L502x and it asking for an Administrator password.
I mean whats with that?!? I thought I was the administrator?

Anyway I think this links with your question about there being a system password. Could you please tell me what it it or what you did?

If this is your computer, if you didn't create a password for your admin account, then you won't need to enter one. When installing software or performing certain functions, an admin prompt will appear. That's a normal part of Windows 7 security. If you never created a password, just leave it blank and click yes to the prompt.
