I had problem with my vista so i went to perform a clean installation, at the same time i wanted to get rid of the MD drive so using hiren boot cd>acronis disk Utility i deleted all my partitions and then recreated 2 partition. Then i went to vista installation and after loading the ahci driver i kept getting this message

Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation

I've got a 1TB Seagate... it's been five hours and counting. God only knows when it'll finish... :0)

The "clean all" command removes the partitions and 0-writes the entire disk I believe. If you use the "clean" command, it will remove the partitions and all but will not overwrite the data, it's a lot faster.

Another thing you could use is Darik's Boot and Nuke, it's a pretty good utility.
