Hoping to buy one but wow, there are a huge amount of problems here.
If I order one now, will this brand new machine have these problems? Have Dell sorted this mess out?

First off, let us just assume that you won't draw the short straw and you'll get a machine that isn't dead/poorly assembled right off the bat, because this can happen no matter which laptop you get.
I have a fairly new 1645 (see sig) that I ordered early in April and received mid-April. The only issue I have had with it are lock-ups during full-screen flash videos, but this was resolved by installing the latest Flash-player beta... though since then I believe the latest video card drivers also solve the problem.
I've never had a problem with crackling speakers or anything with the speakers at all. I uninstalled the crappy Creative X-Fi software almost immediately (I think it's gimmicky, buggy, and useless). I think the built-in speakers on this laptop are very impressive compared to any other laptop I have heard.
CPU throttling is a non-issue now with the latest BIOS and the 135W power adapter (I'm speaking for the 1645 model, as that is what I have), at least as far as I can tell.
GPU throttling can still occur (it's hard-coded to throttle the GPU if it's temperatures reach 84C), but I have yet to have this happen to me. I play games such as Dawn of War 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, and a few others.
Other issues: I don't know. I have been extremely pleased with my laptop and it has been working wonderfully for me. It's fast and more than capable of handling anything I throw at it. I'm also very comfortable playing around with drivers, tweaking settings, and uninstalling bloatware, so that may contribute to my success with this laptop, as I certainly have removed a lot of the bloat that Dell initially installs with it and have been pretty religious in making sure I have the latest drivers running. -
But are you sure it's a 135W adapter? All I can see is a 130WSuppose it doesn't really matter anyway.
Also, can I ask if it has a recovery partition? Because on my config. screen it's saying "OS Windows® Recovery Media Not included" -
You are right... 130W adapter!
It does have a recovery partition. -
Any advice on going with the RGBLED or not? -
Or, LINK
If so, your correct..Dell is no longer providing them with new systems
booboo12, made a nice Recovery Guide, HERE, if you do get your 16xx, and need to seek use of it. It's "stickied" on the Dell Main forum here. I know he is going to be doing some "updating" to it!
Sometimes on my 1647 I have had a issue of losing my BT. But the reconnection of the Driver has been fairly simple. That had been my only complaint. I haven't had anything else really of a concern that was unnerving for me. (I don't go in and necessarily look for problems though)! : )
Oh, and I have the RGBLED on my 1647, it's simply awesome. The colors, the vibrancy..the everything. If you have been wanting to have RGBLED, and you can get it, it's worth it!

Sorr's...(I misread more then I needed to, (home ill today)..Oish....I should go back to bed)..
Well, I gave more information now, then!XD. Glad your going with the RGBLED, you will really like it.....
It took me a little bit to adjust to it, but it's amazing after you get used to it!

Get well soon -

mine had some bad gpu throttling, even though it was brand new (got it 2 weeks ago). I got them to replace the heatsink and mobo and to my surprise it actually works better now, despite the old heatsink being new. I also have a cooler and i think this laptop really needs one.
How many of these SXPS 16 problems are now fixed? [Throttling, speakers, etc.]
