I was wondering who had called Dell to complain about a new laptop and or threatened to return it...
How much cash back did they give you to keep it? Anything else they gave you?
-
dunno about returning, but they gave me $50 when I complained i got no case/earphones/cd case/anything else.
-
Did they say they are sending you the case and earphones too?
-
They actually credited me 120$ towards my purchase after my complaints, and are refunding me $100 for the AverTV(no reception around here) I am returning...anybody else get decent money back, if so how much and what did you complain about?
-
Wow, so your asking this why? If your unhappy with your laptop for an honest reason then by all means call and complain, heck return it, but threatening to return it just to see what they will give you is fraudulent. Because of people like you individuals who have real problems with their systems get the run around.

I got offered $100 for a notebook and $50 for a desktop. I think that is pretty much the standard offering.

I redid my order several times and each time, the email itemized invoice showed shipping address to my OLD address. This was the address where I used to live when I ordered my M1210 2 years ago. I had to call the salesperson each time to get them to change to my new address, which is very inefficient. I explained to Dell customer care and my salesperson that whether I actually ordered an item or whether I changed my order, I should be able to call in to simply update my shipping address, much like I did for my credit cards (even the ones with zero balance) when I moved.
So with my final order, I thought everything was set. However, they ended up shipping the computer (M1530) to the correct address but the Office Home and Student 2007 to my OLD address! My salesperson tried to blame DHL, but I later noted to her that DHL told me there was no way DHL could have made the mistake because they didn't have any info on me. Furthermore, I found out there is no software- not even MS Works- on the computer when I couldn't even open up Word documents, which caused me to lose a week's productivity. Why a week? Because that's how long it took for them to send out another order BECAUSE they told DHL to try to pick up the software, at which DHL was unsuccessful (whoever lives where I used to live probably sold it on Ebay already). I told my salesperson that to make me wait was not the proper decision, that she should have immediately sent me out a new order (they can have DHL try to reclaim the item and send it back to Dell on their own time).
So the salesperson gave me a $100 gift certificate. -
i agree with perrylyzr541...it seems like the OP really doesn't have a problem and just wants to get more out of dell... but i dont know and i dont care
-
Perryl & Somekevinguy >> Please watch out for your language people. This is a public forum and no matter what the reason is (and I don't think the OP anyways did something that absolutely personifies him being a fraud) such posts don't look nice in a reputed place like NBR, and they are unacceptable. Thanks for the future.
As to the OP, good that you managed to get some money back (who doesn't need money)... but watch out.. you may not be lucky alwaysCheers.

Even if razr was trying to get every last penny out of Dell, how is that against a "reputed place like NBR"?
This kind of Group Think sociology reminds me of car forums, in which the "veteran" guys indirectly give each other moral support for having paid more by telling prospective buyers and new buyers not to worry about price and just be happy they got the car they wanted.
Just as people can support each other for having paid higher prices, other people can support each other for having paid lower prices and help prospective buyers to also purchase for lower prices. Why is this morally or ethically questionable? It is the car dealer's job to sell as high as possible just like it is the Dell salesperson's job to sell as high as possible. The buyer has every right to try to apply equal and opposite force, if s/he chooses to.
If the veterans and/or moderators are in fact discouraging learning how to get the best price possible (I don't know because I'm new), then I can only conclude there are other forces influencing them, such as the interests of the manufacturers and vendors that participate on NBR. Whatever it is, you have to call it honestly, and honestly, it has nothing to do with consumer ethics. -
I thought I was mentioning about the language used!!!
(and Thanks to John, they have been edited out now!!)
To Pontine Below this post >> Ah ok, I get it.. and I agree with you. I don't think there is anything really sinful about this.. anyway -
I'm just referring to people who think like perry.
