    Hi,

I got XPS 15 with i5. For some reason i feel that my right speaker is not working or so.

When i hear on the left side of the computer is feel sound coming from the mess on left hand side.

For the right side when i try to listen, i cannot differentiate whether its coming from right speaker or subwoofer.

Is there a fool proof way to verify
left, right speaker and subwoofer are all working?

    Appreciate reply.

Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Sound >> Choose the speakers >> Configure >> Test.

Alternatively, if you go into the Dell Diagnostics, they have a proper test for the speakers, each speaker alone, sub alone, and all together.

I would love to help, but i haven't done it in quite some time so its kinda hazy on how to do it. Maybe someone else that remember properly can help you through it.
    Sorry

I'll try to find out again, searching now.
If i find it I'll let you know

    EDIT:
I found it in the L501x Service Manual ( Setup Guide).
    Its on page 68.

(If you are not comfortable doing any of this for any reason you can just call Dell up and tell them your problem, they will run you through the diagnostics over the phone step by step)

    Here are the steps:

Firstly, make sure you're plugged in.

    1) Turn On or Restart your laptop.
    2) When the Dell logo appears, press F12 (If windows loads, that means you pressed it too late, shut down and try again).
    3) Select Diagnostics, press Enter.

A Pre-Boot test will start, just let it finish.

    4) It'll now ask you to run more memory test, press n.
    5) You should see a window now that is titled "Choose an Option". Choose 'Custom Test'.

You will now see a list of all the devices and hardware in your laptop, find the sound dropdown and just double click it. It should now start testing the speakers. Once done, just exit.

I think F8, F9 or F12 as the computer is booting. I will need to confirm when I get I home.
