    Hey all,

I've got a Dell XPS17 Laptop. After spending a few weeks looking for a solution that does not involve me having to pay around £100 to get a damaged audio jack replaced I thought I would post on here to see if anyone could help.

I have damaged the sensors in one or both of my audio jacks so that the laptop believes headphones are constantly plugged in. As a result the on board sound system (which for a laptop is pretty good) no longer functions at all. The only way I can get sound is by plugging in speakers or headphones. I have waves maxxaudio3 sound manager and I cannot disable the audio jack from there or via the standard 'playback devices'. I've found a few threads about disabling the jack in regedit but I have had o luck there either. I even found something called audiohack which got my hopes up but no luck. Has anyone got any suggestions or had much experience disabling the audio jack in regedit or BIOS or another way?

    Kind regards and Merry Christmas,
    Luc

I had this,(albeit on a XPS 1640), had to have the audio board changed.

Hey Paolo. Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping someone could point out a way to disable the audio port so that I don't have to do that. I can use a USB audio port adapter instead.
