    Hey guys,

Another question, I use the cloth that came with the XPS, works for the smudges and dust buildup... but what about the particles that are stuck to the screen, makes me want to scratch them off but I seriously don't want to do that. Any tips?

To clean my LCD screen I get a small towel and just wet it with water. I just apply it on and then just dry it off. It works for me. One thing I don't suggust using are products like Windex, etc

I usually just use my microfiber cloth to clean my LCD. You can also you your own *breath* get up close to the screen Breath on it and wipe...in small, but *firm* circles..it does work ;) :D

    Yes, *do not use windex*

Here is good Part 3..of a Guide...This is on Cleaning The Screen:

    Use a water/alcohol mix.

Did you look at the guide??? There are many suggestions in there on how to remove things like this.. ;) Isop. Alcohol/water on a swab is one way, or mild dishsoap, etc....

small stains that stick to the screen, and won't come off with a dry clean? I get them with 25% isopropanol.

Just a ligthly dampened microfiber cloth... don't pour it on the screen!

Once someone said that you should wipe in a horizontal/vertical way, and never in circles... however I don't see a reason for not doing circles...

Microfiber cloth is the way to go. Although, some are better than others. I use a cheap one to wipe the KB, palmrest, lid, and a prelim. wipe down of the LCD screen.. then i use a better quality microfibre cloth and go over the screen in the problem areas. For harder spots, i just breathe on it a bit and wipe in small circles, it usually always comes off.

You can and should also wash the microfibre down since it will build up grease and dirt over time. Use clothes detergent and rinse it very well before reusing.

For the 1640, i find that the second step is much less necessary, since i NEVER touch the screen and there is enough clearance between the lcd and KB that grease doesnt transder when closed (this is a minor issue on my TZ since the screen is so flexible.. the LCD picks up grease from the KB when it is closed).
