I thinking of going mobile at work by replacing my 3.5 year old Dell Precision WS with an XPS M1530. I know that this isn't really apples to apples, but is there any way to get a sense for how the processor speeds would compare?

My 'old' workstation has dual Xeon 3.0GHz processors. The M1530 would have a T9300. Thanks

3.5 years = P4 base... the T9300 will destroy it.

Even though it's dual Xeons to a single T9300?

The T9300 is faster, but you won't notice a performance difference unless running synthetic benchies or intensive tasks.

what do you do with your old workstation then? your comparing workstation vs. mobility in here.

you have to factor in what you will do (mobility vs. one-place-only) and what you will need (programs to run) so that we could help you on your choice. :)

Yes, good question, coolsurf. I do a lot of PHP scripting, but also work with Photoshop and some video... Thanks...
