I have the P9600, just got it today in fact. No heat problems at all really, temps seem stable. The reason for this is that the fan runs all the time. It's starting to bother me actually.

I would be much happier with a toasty system that was quiet. I can't find a fan control app that recognises this motherboard. I wonder how likely it is that it will be supported in the future.

    In order of ease:

    (1) Raise the rear of the Laptop a bit to provide airflow (as easy as two rubber erasers)
    (2) Get a good cooling pad (NXZT Cryo-S or Cyro-LX, Zalman NC2000, etc...crappy coolers need not apply)
    (3) Remove OEM thermal pad and apply good aftermarket paste (AS3, MX, etc.)
    (4) Undervolt (great results to be had) http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

Diffculty on #3 and #4 really relate to 'are you comfortable opening your laptop and performing the act of removing the stock compouned, etc.'.

I just ordered a studio 13 and the largest 7200 rpm hdd they offer is 320 GB. Anyway, I hope it doesn't get as hot as people make it seem because a cooler kind of takes away from the portability aspect of having a laptop of this size.

does it really get hot enough to damage components, or are you personally just uncomfortable with the heat? I already own a desktop replacement and don't need another version of the same thing. I was expecting to take this thing everywhere, and not with a cooler attached to it.

My 7,200 drive doesn't get noticably hotter than my old 5,400 did. It's very, very loud though. I'll be buying a SSD when prices drop.
