    1. Download and run Catalyst v10.2 driver - let it extract into C:\ATI\SUPPORT but cancel the installation once the driver is extracted.

    2. Run Mobility Modder - browse to the driver in C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xxxx_dd_ccc_wdm_enu - hit modify - wait until driver is modified.

    3. Open Device Manager - find your video card or VGA controller - right click and select Update Driver.

    4. Select Advanced - deselect search removable media - select Include this location in the search - click Browse to C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xxxx_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Packages\Drivers\Display\xx_ INF\ - click ok - click next - click continue - restart.

    5. Run Setup.exe in C:\ATI\Support\10-2_xxxx_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\ - select Customize install - deselect ATi display driver - install - restart.

Doesn't work for me in Win 7 64. I get "A service installation section of this INF is invalid.". :(

Yeah looks like this only works on XP :(

Windows 7 users will have to wait for the updated Mobility Modder.

It's not Win7. It's ATI, they updated it.

This work-around works if you are using XP though.

ATi changed something in v10.1 which made them incompatible with Mobility Modder.

No need to mess with it next release. Starting with CATALYST 10.3, there will be monthly updates direct from ATI for all Mobility cards (except from a handful of vendors that aren't participating, that is Sony Fijistu and two others I don't recall).

Did you sell your 1640 or return it or something? G73 looks nice man.

Also, sweet find on the drivers man, much appreciated.

    Edit:

Any of you notice that he updated with official 10.2 (non-beta) drivers, 10. 2 and he said it supports mobility cards, "(Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)." Weird, I thought official support for mobility cards came out with 10.3. nice surprise

Dell are sending me a new SXPS as a couple of keys started to melt on mine!

I will probably sell it or donate it to my old man as G73 will be here on Wed :)

By the way tenknics where can I get your wallpaper - the rainy window one - it's cool.

Found it actually on this forum. I've always just gone strait to this forum and never checked anything else out. Got bored one day and checked out the "Show off your Windows 7 Desktop" thread. Lot of gems in there, fond some really awesome looking gadgets..
