I just got an XPS m1330 laptop from dell outlet.
I want to know when it was built. How can I check that as I do not see a sticker stating the mfr date of the laptop.
I am concerned as the lap top looks it was used for quite some time and maybe older unit with the GPU heating issue.

There should be a Dell Service Tag on it somewhere if you got it from the outlet. Those tags are the keys that tell you everything about the system - plug it in to the Dell Support site.

If it's a refurb, the service tag won't tell you when it was built. It'll just tell you when it was shipped (to you) and the original configuration (in the Outlet). You won't get any information about the notebook's previous life or previous owner.

You can try to check things like the memory manufacture date(s); assuming that's never been changed, it should usually only be a month or two prior to the original built and/or ship date. Some of the other internal components (particularly plastics) may also have dates on them.

. . . however even if you can determine the build date, that doesn't necessarily mean that the individual parts coincide.

If it makes you feel better, I have the same worry. My warranty is up around August this year (abput 1 year old), and I have been gaming up to 90c and beyond. So far, I'm still cooking. My Wi-Fi device occasionally stops working, but that is all so far.

I think for outlet laptops the flash with the original image that was on it when shipped. So if you look at the software version you should be able to tell.
Can someone know if the image the original image on the returns before making it available or a generic image?

My outlet came with 8.5 works and 3.3 Media direct already installed that if is from the original image then this laptop got to be close to a year old as these softwares were changed to works 9 and MD 3.5 in early 2008 or so.
