Probably the card has a part number / batch number or some kind of manufacturing code / number.. but the problem is the manufacturer himself has not revealed *any* information about the cards affected or their batch numbers or the range of manufacturing dates within which the faulty cards were made and so on.. So there, no way to tell, whatsoever.

But don't worry.. :) Use your system as long as it lasts and when your card fails, Dell is going to replace it anyway with the additional warranty or whatever.

No one has a clue. Only Nvidia knows which parts are faulty and since Nvidia hasn't been so forthcoming about stuff I DOUBT they will tell you how to figure it out. Basically if you bought a nvidia gfx card expect it to be faulty. This doesn't mean that it won't last you. I think on average it'll last people until their next notebook purchase. It's just that the failure rate is higher than normal so people aren't happy but it'll still last you till your next notebook purchase and Dell will fix it for you if it breaks.
