hiya, I'm trying to connect my xbox to my 1640 using a vga/sound cable(the vga part is in a seperate monitor). I've got the adapter thingo to connect RCA sound to a 3.5 jack but I can't get it to work.

I'm trying to use the mic jack as a line in. I assume this is supposed to work as the drivers have a setting for line in (which i tried) and recognise that there is somthing connected.

I've tried changing the settings in the drivers and in control panel like making sure it isn't muted and such but i havn't had much luck.

    I'm on vista 64 bit.

    any help would be great!

Don't know enough to offer a lot of solid advise on this one, but I would make sure that you have audio on the RCA first. Make sue it's not outputting digital audio :) If there is anything you can plug it into that uses just the RCA's test that first. You can also test with a set of headphones (earbuds) by holding the two connectors together to the tip and sleeves are touching, it won't be loud, but it will tell you if there IS audio present...
