I haven't had a problem yet... but I did with my last HP. Had to send it back 3 times in one month with an average of 7 days turnaround. I picked Dell because they will fix yours with a day or so at home. Well, it is part of the reason I picked Dell. I liked what I saw online about the XPS M1560 too.

I've had the 1530 for two days now, I do like it... but It makes too much noise :(, when playing CoD 4 for example the fan is very loud... Didn't know what to expect really, only had Laptops with GMA 950 or what it's called :p integrated, and they were dead silence... :p This isn't

I will make up my mind wether I will keep it or return it during the weekend..

don't shut the poll, don't shut the poll... it's helpful, and needs to be kept running as more people buy the M1530.

Except for faulty RAM (which will be solved soon), my experience with the M1530 has been great. It's my first laptop and I LOVE IT!

I will definately buy my next (non-gaming) laptop from Dell again. Their support is great, especially when I compare it with other manufacturers. My mother doesn't even get a reply from her manufacturer ...

DELL XPS M1530 - From An Experience View

When I first opened my M1530, I noticed a warped keyboard, which is a VERY common problem from the Dell's manufacturing. You can search on Google to see how many have this same problem. The keyboard is highter on the center than on the sides, almost like a slight curve. Within the warranty, a Dell technician came in my house and opened up the laptop to find that there was a wire misplaced underneath the keyboard, which caused the raise in the keyboard.

The EJECT button is a pain, as it stutters everything you do on the laptop everytime it is pressed. As I am listening to music or playing a game, or movie, pressing the EJECT button stutters the processes for a mere 3-4 seconds. I cannot have this happen while I am DJ-ing live however. This is a hardware problem and also known to Dell engineers. According to them, they are still working on the new BIOS that might fix this issue. But when?

The Windows Vista Home Premium that came with the package was nice and easy to setup and use right away. I've noticed a stutter in my music playback once in a while on Windows Media Player as well as Winamp. I've installed Windows Vista Ultimate in place of the original operating system to see if it will fix the problem. However, it still remains.

The hard drive that came with the laptop makes noises every 10 second or so. It sounds like a slight knocking. The sound is like an "insect", according to the Dell technician, and he stated that it was normal. I don't think this is normal because I've never dealt with a new laptop with such sound before. Although, the hard drive functions normally, it may be the cause or related the sound stuttering as stated above.

I've also noticed the write speed of the DVD-RW drive as it only goes up to 4x instead of 8x as stated. I was using Nero 8 and my Sony DVD+R discs were capable of up to 16x writing speed.

Dell makes good computer products, but the M1530 that I got does not meet the quality standards that I was expecting. The XPS line is the top-of-the-line product of Dell right? One would expect a more quality and stable system from that line.

This is from my personal experience; overall, the laptop is fast, attractive, and very easy to setup and use.

Hanime, this link may be useful for you to trackdown the cause of M1530's Audio Problem. I have had 6 M1530's in my possession, they all had high latency issues=intermittent audio glitches. Also own a Lenovo Y510,latency is low for the most part, and I've had 0 audio problems with it.

    I'm waitin for a replacement.
    Reasons:

1.Mic isssues (not workin at all)
    2.Bad keyboard (bulge)
    3.Constantly blue screen

In brief it's a nice lappy , perfect specs , amazing look , but i guess i'm out of luck (for now :p) ...

are people who got a 1440x900 screen happy with it?
i would go up one more but thats just a bit too expensive.
    I'm settling for the middle.

Extremely happy with mine. I use my notebook 8-12 hours a day for both work/play. Contrary to what people tell you, do NOT need more resolution.

Ok, so now all I need to decide is 3gb or 4gb Ram and which mouse. Need a decent mouse, but not too pricey. Might save on the ram and get a decent mouse.

What about the hard drive... oh wait, I can't seem to get a 7,200rpm one over here...

Unless your running 64bit, you won't use the 4GB memory. 3GB memory is plenty!

Read my personal review on when I got mine here:

Extremely happy with my XPS. The 1440x900 looks great on mine. The LED display is amazing. I can't get over how fast it is compared to my old Dell desktop. Got my antivirus set up, all windows updates completed, installed my lojack software, got my itunes done and networked it with the desktop. Life is good.

Was doing well..having got mine when the 1680x1050 came out and lucked out in a great screen..given all the issues with the grain...but I have sent her in to get a new CPU ...at least that's what they think it is....this is the first dell of all the dells I have had that has had any problems... maybe that would explain the odd beeping that I have had since it was new...who knows...
