Well sometimes I love it, other times  but woo.
I finally got someone who actually answered my questions. And actually gave me some information about the XPS 1730.

Agent (Gurmandeep_118085): "The video cards are DDR2."
ME: Would I be able to switch out the card for the DDR3 version?"
Agent (Gurmandeep_118085): "I am afraid that would not be possible as the motherboard would not support that."

ME: "Do you have any information regarding the new xps 1730?"
    Agent (Gurmandeep_118085):
The XPS 1730 system has not been launched yet and the release date for the same is 21st September 2007. The pricing information and other detailed information of that system will be available after that date. "It has NVIDIA graphics card. The NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT uses the latest technology and features NVIDIA has to offer. In a dual card configuration, the two cards can be linked to run in SLI™ mode. This setup provides twice the graphics processing power than a single card for cutting-edge graphics.

The following is a list of features common to the NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT:
    PowerMizer™ 7.0 technology
    Full support for Microsoft® DirectX™ 10.0 OpenGL® 2.1 support nView&trade multi-display technology
GigaThread™ technology PureVideo™ HD technology NVIDIA Lumenex™ engine

More information regarding that system will be available once that system is launched. The date of launch of that system is 09/21/2007.

You know what's peculiar is that I spoke with a tech guy today at dell and he informed me that the 8600m gt that will be in my 1520 is DDR3 not DDR2. They dont even know is what I think.
