I posted a few days ago that I had just ordered the Dell XPS 15 but knew I was getting an inferior screen. I called Dell to cancel explaining that I wanted the 1080p screen and they offered 100 bucks back for me to keep it so I took them up on it. I got the computer and the screen was 1080p but it definitely was not the rgb screen everyone was raving about. This thing looked absolutely hideous. Anyway I found an LG screen on ebay, the LG Phillips LP1156WF1(TL)(B1), and I can confirm it works. I installed it in about 30 minutes - warning be very careful not to break the plastic bezel which I was luckily able to avoid. The screen is full 1080p with a matte finish, which is what I prefer, it is working perfectly and looks fantastic although probably not as good as the rgb screen but close enough. I remember seeing another LG one on ebay with the glossy finish but you will have fish around for it.

There is no RGB display for the XPS 15, it is either 1366x768 WLED or , 1920x1080 B+RG WLED.

What is the the hardware id in device manager under displays/monitors when you open the devices properties=> details=> hardware ID?

You're right I was trying to refer to the B+RG screen which I definitely did not get. I did the whole device ID and it did not match the ID for the B+RG screen. Can't remember off the top of my head what it was but it did not match. When I switched screens the original had a bunch of chinese writing on the back of it. The new LG screen has an ID of MONITOR\LGD0215.
