If you're brave you can get a replacement screen on eBay and do it yourself. Call Dell first and see what they say. Being an XPS owner they might cut ou a slack! Do it soon though.

Just called Dell they said they have a special in which they fix it for $400.00 total shipping and handling and so forth.

I want to ask you guys is it worth it.

I have the 2.1, blueray, 4 gig dd2 1280x800 which is 500 gig hard drive in it. I bought it last year refurbished for 700 bucks and it runs good.

Is it worth it? Or should I try to do it myself or just get a new laptop?

I'm cheap and I don't really watch specs, I'm mostly trying to find a good job and go back to school

    What do you think?

Not worth it... best bet is to part out the machine- get a new one. i would estimate that you could get 300-400 in parts-

Or get a screen on Ebay. probably get one for 75.00 - easy to replace

I heard some models of the XPS M1530 have a different bulb than others, how do I find out which bulb come with the laptop?

The cheapest laptop I've seen with a bluray player is from Gateway for $549 at BestBuy online. The new laptops now has LEDs instead of Flourecent LCDs. There's another thread here on how to change your screen. Depending on your specs the LG screen is better than the Samsung. You have to read your spec sheet if yours is an LED or LCD. For $400 it's much cheaper to repair than buying a new one so I would say go for it but make sure they place an LG screen on it. I love my m1530 too and the warranty is expiring in February. I've seen newer laptops with better screens but overall the question is do I really need a new one?
