So when I go to customize my sxps 16, I don't have an option to upgrade my battery. It's quite odd because I JUST read a post within the last 30 hours or so saying that someone just ordered their laptop with a 9-cell battery. And I had the time to chat with a dell person and he said that they were out of stock with 9 cell batteries. And I had this problem last night (over 12 hours ago)....

The attachment is a picture of the options for the battery during customization...

So is it my computer's problem or what????

IT GETS WEIRDER.... If you google "dell studio xps 16" and click on the first link, you get the sxps 16. Compared to going through the Dell site from the beginning, googling has a different result. So through google, I have no $31 discount BUT have the option to upgrade to a 9-cell battery. Like I said before, going through the Dell site from the beginning, there is a $31 discount but no option to upgrade battery. THIS IS FRUSTRATING.... THe dell assistant during chat had no explanation except for that bogus "out of stock"

So yeah, is it my computer's problem? Can anyone try this themselves - trying to customize a sxps 16? If you can, GO TO DELL.COM and start there. DON"T GOOGLE SXPS 16!!

Or, is there a trustworthy site where I can buy a 9-cell battery? I know of Newegg, but they don't have any. And Dell's site is way too expensive

    Thanks a bunch

dell.com has MANY CONFIGs for you to choose from

some configs have items disabled (like not allowing you to downgrade from 500GB to 320GB, while some don't allow you to upgrade from 320GB to 500GB).... it's dell's way of balancing supplies through orders....

you have to play around with the multiple configs on Dell's site to get the best price... on one config, you might have to upgrade something to get the same specs as another config, but the prices will be different...

Just talk to a customer rep and they can add it on for you.

Agreed....it's defnitely a dell config thing and you just happened to be in the wrong config :)

You can buy them independently on dell's website for $100. So you may want to consider doing that, rather than adding it on for $90 but losing a $31 discount...

    Hmmm
The weird thing is that EVERYTHING is the same during customization except for that battery option. And the starting price is the same, so it's not as if one is supposed to be better than the other....

Bigbelly: did you go to dell.com then laptops, then studio xps 16 and customize it yourself? And you had the option to get a 9-cell battery?

as i said, the config reference numbers are different... they may have the same specifications, but they are different...

if you don't like this, go over to Apple... think there are only 6 different lines?

Alright. I guess Dell just really doesn't wanna sell those 9 cell batteries.
On another note, can anyone tell me about the sxps 16's keyboard by any chance? Is it like the studio 15's?
