Apart from the usual things like checking email, checking the weather or taking my turn in scrabble on facebook...what else can I do?
Please list here any cool programs or applications you think I should install to take advantage of this amazing piece of hardware.

- Watch high quality movies
- play some games
- try adobe photoshop or any other graphics software or video editing
- enjoy listening to music with your jbl speakers -
Cool thanks zjacobss sounds good dude.

.....This thread made me laugh.

Heh. Put Furmark, prime95, RealTemp and GPU-Z on it. Then listen to the fans ramp up. The CPU and GPU can then be used to heat your home! Awesomely powerful the thing is. I run these stress tests for hours on all my new laptops just see if they'll burst into flames! God I love tech.

Seems like the iPad 2 was meant for you, not a full fledged laptop. Laptops are great for work or school, if you're just using it for enjoyment then the best thing is watching movies, playing games, or blogging. Use your computer to rip music, convert videos, etc. Or you can use your incognito browser...if you know what I mean.

could add - produce movies, design cars, play good games, build and serve websites and apps, stream HD video from around the world and watch it wirelessly on your TV screen whilst surfing/working/w**king on your 1080p laptop display and mixing your own music in a 48 track studio simultaneously ...
That's why I bought one anyway anyway .... -
@OP what AV are you using? If you are looking for something, MSE is a nice light program.
I use Sumatra for PDF's, easy to use.
Here is a list of some good freebies you should peruse:

overclock that GPU! and convert some files in handbrake to utilize that i7 power.

Download and install the BIOS update.
Download all the drivers/programs you want and figure out how you want your system setup, back them up on a flash drive.
I'd suggest Sandboxie and Dropbox.
If you're hardcore, get VMWare and make a good xp install and capture it.
Toss all that stuff on a flash drive for reinstalling after you know how you want your setup.
Restore the computer with Dell Datasafe.
Remove all the bloatware.
Make a Datasafe state.
Install programs/drivers.

... why did you spend $1000 or more when you have nothing to do on it?
-

-
Have only installed the BIOS update to date and already ran Dell Datasafe.
Do I need to install more drivers?
I did think the screen wasnt as good as people were making it out to be - Ive a 540m Nvidia - do i need to install the driver for this? I thought Dell preinstalled all drivers before shipping?
Have uninstalled Dell Stage - is there other bloatware apart from this?
Good work -
The screen on this laptop is amazing frankly speaking. It is so easy on the eyes compared to other laptop screens. Use it for a while then look at other laptop screens, you will see the horror.
I uninstalled McAfee and all the Stages -
I felt this would a good thread starter...and looks like it was as we've got a good few replys going now, different inputs etc..all good stuff coming in.
Want get a feel for whats out there...and just like 'zjacobss' has quite rightly pointed out - 'learn new things, open doors' - good shout.
And oh yes, I am a thousandaire...well, I was. -

Your response here, whatever you're on about, does not fit in. -

Oh and on another note on your superior screen........... when I purchased my 256GB M4 from a computer store, earlier this week I casually asked them about what they thought between the two 1080P 17 AND 15 FHD screens and the response was so simple and yet amazing at the same time I thought I would share it with you all because I don't think anyone has brought it up yet. And if it has been brought up, people have forgotten about the obvious.
The 15 inch is of course going to look sharper with the same picture because the screens BOTH have the same amounts of pixels, but the pixel size on a 15 will "physically" be smaller and therefore LOOK sharper because the pixel IS smaller and appear more precise but in reality, it's not. If you magnify the 15 to be the same size as the 17 artificially you would see pretty much the same thing. -

Wow, you really are spiteful aren't you? lol.
I'm done dealing with you.
EDIT: Wow, thank you moderators, very nice. The moderator caught the last post and deleted it. Very uncalled for comments. It never ceases to amaze me what people say when they know they are wrong and refuse to acknowledge it but rather attack instead.
