I've checked it for problems and so far I don't see any: no cracks, dents, wobblings, cpu whine, etc.

So what should I do first? Any tips?
I notice that there's a dell partition that takes up 10gb..
is that necessary? Or can I remove it..and how do I remove it? Just press delete?

    I'm so excited ^^

Great! Also check if every button, indicator, port and bay works.

    Everything works great!
the dvd slot drive is pretty quiet, better than what I expected
I just can't get the fingerprint reader to work, it keeps saying "bad quality" for the practice swipes..

I need help with this..any techniques?

I'd also be interested in finding out what we can do as far as wiping the system and getting rid of dell software (other than quickset)?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Also um. I can't figure out how to get the dummy express card out..
I've looked up the owner's manual and it says to "press the latch"
    I don't see a latch anywhere. >_<

I thought the card that comes in the express slot was a remote control?

If you are not going to dual boot and don't need Mediadirect, delete all partitions and create a new single partition and install the OS using the disc that came with your system. Fresh install, maximum available space and no junk stuff. Download all the latest drivers and write them to a disc beforehand, so you can immediately start installing them after the OS installation.
