Hey guys, I have just reformatted my XPS M1710.

How do I get back all those settings that came with it when I bought it?

For example, I want to get back those applications that could change the lights of my laptop or those settings that told me how much battery was left in my laptop?

Or those pre-set settings on how much I want to spend on Performance v. Battery Life?

    Thank you very much!

The application you are looking for is called Dell Quickset.

You can also change the lights via the BIOS and skip quickset alltogether this is one less program to be loaded when windows loads.
    I find quickset unnecessary.

i have a quick question. do you think it is possible to put a a dell m6300 motherboard in to replace the m1710 motherboard? i mean its the same casing one with lights the other one with out. imo the m1710 XPS looked a whole lot better than the XPS 1730. m6300 has all the upgrades i wanted to see if it was possible to switch out the two.

sorry for the off topic. just a thought.

If its the same casing, then it will probably fit. But you won't be able to control the lights or anything else XPS specific.
