I ordered a CCFL screen instead of the LED screen for my XPS M1330 laptop. Now after looking at pictures of the differences between the two,I'm regretting not upgrading to LED. I saw the XPS M1330 at my college but I have no idea if the one I saw had an LED screen. If the m1330 at my college was CCFL then I fell in love with it and I don't regret my choice. But I have no idea!
In the Fall,I'm going to have to carry my laptop around is the CCFL screen that much heavier than the LED screen? If it's that much heavier than I just defeated the whole purpose of buying a M1330. Should I change my order, it's currently in the Production phase,or is it really not that big of a deal?
Thanks!

If you just recently ordered I would cancel it and get the LED screen. Regrets are a *****.
-
I just ordered it on Friday. It's really that big of a deal?
-
I completely agree with somekevinguy - regrets are a *****.
I re-ordered my Studio 15 a week later due to the screen and a few other things after learning about literally everything about laptops on these forums. -
Well thing is, it's not a big deal to cancel it and order it with the LED so why not if you are regretting it like you said. It would be different if you already ordered it two weeks ago and you would have to get back at the beginning of the line. If you run on batteries much, the LED uses less power and it is a lot brighter. I don't think the weight is really a factor though.

Its best to get the LED to have no regrets. In addition to what somekevinguy mentioned, the LED is also LIGHTER and physically thinner.
-
I'm going to go the other way and say:
- $150 is a high premium to pay for the LED
- it is literally mm thinner than the CCFL
- battery savings is minimal due to the high number of LEDs (32)
- CCFL is bright enough
- the $150 you save can be used to upgrade other portions of the system such as CPU (Penryn 45nm will gain you lower temps and longer battery life, not to mention performance beyond basic computing)
It depends on what you want....
P.S. Looking at your signature, I guess that is the system you are getting. If you could, upgrade your HDD from 160GB 5400 RPM to at least 250GB or 320GB 5400 RPM. The data density is much higher and not only provides more storage space, but performance that is much faster. -
Personally I think the LED screen (Toshiba) in M1330 is bit a grainy compare to CCFL (LG). I heard that Chi Mei LED is the worst.
Although CCFL is thicker but if you get an LG it will be a great screen. -
CMO doesn't make them for M1330? The CMO looks perfect on the M1530. If you look at both the LED and CCFL... you will not believe how you could have used CCFL all the time. Its like you've been working with a dim screen all the time.
Of course, you can just soak in all the negatives about the LED, and the rare rare cases of defects and random claims of graininess when in fact that really are none 99% of the time. Though, once you go LED, you won't want a CCFL.
You should not be comparing CCFL vs LED in the first place. The only thing that you should be worried about when it comes to LED, is whether to get LED at 1440 or CCFL at higher resolution like 1920. That is worth debating and arguing about, considering that the 1920 screens have high rates of graininess, much higher than the LED backlit display... LED is the way to go either way. -

i'd definitely cancel and go for LED.... if u have the $ -
Thanks for all of your advice, I appreciate it.I decided to stick with my CCFL, because the model at my school has the CCFL screen and it's not bad at all.

As long as you are happy is all that counts.
