My brand new xps 1530 has AT LEAST 3 or 4 stuck pixels.
I got the 1680x1050 screen so they are not noticable except on a black screen when I'm close up, but still this is outrageous!

Is there anything I can do :(

Ya your probably gonna have to send it back. On my Dell Ultrasharp 20.1" Widescreen LCD (desktop display) there is one dead pixel and its always green or purple. Never sent it back...but more than one i'd say send it back.

I tried all those things on my desktop LCD...nothing worked. Still have one dead pixel...and this is over 3 years since I got the display.

I'd say send your laptop back to Dell to get a LCD replacement. Do it before your 21 days or whatever it is, is up. You'll regret not doing it later. Faster you send it in, the faster you get it fixed, .

Stuck pixels can be fixed... get a program that flashes the colours on the screen and after a while they'll be unstuck.

What worked on my computer monitor, in the end, was this:
turn off monitor, press down on the stuck pixel, turn back on the monitor. I read that somewhere and to my surprise, it actually worked very well. No stuck pixels anymore. (Been using lcd for a year and a half now.. did that procedure 1st day I got it)

    Hi!

You might just end up end having to get a *replacement*, and it might be for the best...As it sounds like it is already becoming an issue for you.

Sorry, that this is already happening with your new 1530 :(

Hoping that if, you get a replacment screen, or even a new replacement...you get a better one with no such problems ;) :) :)

    Good luck!!! ;) :)

They are going to replace my screen which is good because I don't want to have to wait for another laptop for weeks and then have to reconfigure it after I just finished getting this one the way I like it...

    Matthileo,

You have 3 options to resolves this issue, Dell will let you choose what suits you better in this case since it is a new system.

    1. Dell will send a Tech over to replace the LCD.
    2. Dell will cross ship you a new replacement system.
    3. Dell will issue you a full refund afetr you return your system.

The best option is #2 where you keep your current system while they build and ship you a new replacement. You can then swap your harddrive so you do not have to start over.

    Good luck.

Call up Customer Care and tell them you want an LED screen.

Edit: They seem to put priority on replacements. Mine took one week from the date I called, to the day it was delivered. Just swap hard drives when the new ones comes, and you don't have to reinstall all your programs and such.

    Good luck.

Actually now that I've seen this screen I don't want the LED...
1680x1050 is beautiful and I never want to go lower again :)

Yeah, I thought the same thing...but when my LED came today I was happy. My vision isn't the greatest, so at least I can see the screen, and the colors and brightness are great. If they had a 1680x1050 LED, i'd love to have it.

    Good luck.

Same...but as they don't I'll just get another one of these...hopefully without grainyness (this one has very little), backlight bleed (again this one doesn't have any that I've noticed), and hopefully the new one wont have and dead pixels...

Yeah. Mine had some minor backlight bleed...but it might just be normal. I dunno.

Oh well, I am happy with my LED, and it came with a TEAC DVD. My original had he Optiarc or whatever, which made a bit of noise. The TEAC is much quieter. My new one also had a Samsung HDD. My original had a Seagate...so I swapped them out so I got the better drive, and didn't have to reinstall all my stuff.

The HDD I havge now (not sure on the brand) is very quiet...when I can hear it it's like a faint clicking sound...

My dvd is loud, but i've never had a quite disc drive so that doesn't bother me...

Yes try the flashing fix, it works for stuck pixels, that means it has color.. It won't work for dead pixels..

Its only a few pixels.. You shouldn't make it seem like a big deal.. And if you REALLY REALLY can't stand it then call up dell and have them replace it..

Hey matt did you ask for a DVD drive replacement? I have the optirac and it is loud.. Did he do a good job replacing it? Does it move around or feel flimsy? I wanna know because I wanna replace mine too..

No, I didn't. I just got a replacement because of the screen, and happened to get a different DVD drive on the new one.

If you call and tell them, they will get you a new one. It seems people do it all the time.
