Hi there. So I have a serious interest in buying a new Studio XPS 1340 and I want to know what do you think about it. First of all, here is my config and prize:
This will cost me about € 1300,- (about 1600,- USD) here in Slovakia. Do you think that it's good prize for this configuration??
Reasons for buying this laptop are, that smaller laptop is now better for me, than 15,4" Inspiron 1520 that I'm having right now and this Studio XPS 13 has graphics card with similar power to 8600M GT, even if I don't play on PC now so often. Some GTA San Andreas, Need for Speed Undercover, NHL 09 or maybe GTA IV on minimum details should be enough for me. And I more appreciate the mobility of 13" laptop, than gaming power of bigger laptop.
But I read some threads about bad experiences with this laptop, here on forum, so I'm little confused. What all can be wrong with it?? Now I'm 90% sure that I will order it, but I want to know what I'm going into.
    Thanks a lot for answers.

If I compare it to my m1530 which can play all the games listed above, has 15" screen, I think thats rip-off . but if you like leather cover on the back...

And that price is with warranty ? (make sure you'll buy warranty !!!) at least for 3 yrs.

The best laptop for gaming is the M1730 "BEAST" !!

And where you want to but it ???

For that configuration - I would not hasitate if i want it. But in my opinoin - I think that HP are little bit cheaper with similar config.
And the negative opinions about it here on forum - mostly u will find here just the troubleshooting ones, so dont be confused.
Maybe, if u want to be really sure, go to shop with notebooks and try to find something better.
If u wont - dont waste time and go for studio xps 13.
    { if I would have spare 1300 € :D }

It's with 2Y warranty, that's enough for me. I'm trying to change my computers every two years, so I don't care if something happens when it's out of warranty.
I want to buy it here at Slovakia, I don't have any opportunity to buy it somewhere else. In US it should be cheaper, but I don't have any friends there now, which can send it to me.
Btw, som rád že je tu aj niekto iný zo Slovenska okrem mňa :)
(I'm happy, that there are more users from Slovakia here.)

I was thinking about HP too, but there is a problem about HP here in Slovakia. We only have pre-configured models here, so if I want HP it's all about compromises. Dell can be configured almost to every single screw, so it's the best option for me. And there is one another thing, HP didn't ship any recovery DVDs with laptops here, don't know how it's somewhere else, but in Slovakia they don't and that's very uncomfortable for me.

I was thinking about M1730 in some cheaper config, (I have an Asus EeePC 1000H, so that should be the mobile laptop and M1730 will stay at home as a desktop replacement), but I really don't need so much gaming power, mobility is in first place now, so the Studio XPS 13 should be the best for me. Maybe for gaming I will buy a classic desktop computer, or some gaming console sometime.

I think that I'll buy it...but I must wait until I sell my Inspiron 1520 to get the rest of money...
First I though that the laptop will be more expensive, this price surprises me a little, I expected something like € 1600,- because it's new model and it's not the basic configuration at all...

I'm struggling to decide whether the Studio XPS 13 is worth the extra £300 compared to an equivalent configuration XPS1330. I didn't buy the XPS1330 because I was waiting for bluray but now bluray is not available on the Studio XPS 13 anyway, I'm wondering why I should bother with the Studio XPS 13 at all. What are the advantages?

Alternatively, does anyone know of another 13 or 14" laptop with bluray, other than the ridiculously priced Sony Vaio Z (and HP which don't allow anyone outside the US to configure their laptops so bluray 14" is not available)?

    Thanks
