:D :p by ordering a new motherboard off eBay. After shipping, it was around $210, and the whole process of replacement took me about 3-4 hours. Of course, this was my first time ever taking a laptop apart so that's why it took so long.

All I have to say is, WOW. Having 256mb (as opposed to 128mb with my old GeForce 8400m) basically doubled the performance of my games. Those of you who already have a 256mb GeForce 8600, you better be glad! And this definitely isn't the "placebo" effect, either.

If you guys are interested in doing the same to your laptop, feel free to ask questions. However, I have to admit that replacing a motherboard laptop is the HARDEST thing I have ever done to a computer, literally. I felt like I was doing surgery on someone. :D

    Wow!!

I think I can dismantle my M1530 but I’m afraid I cannot put all things back together perfectly :p
8600M GT GDDR3 is really good graphic card.

With the service manuals that Dell puts out, taking apart a laptop is simple.

If you're afraid of losing screws or not remembering where they go, take pictures and tape all your screws to a piece of paper, labeling them as to where they come out of.

I remember it took me awhile to take apart my first laptop.......now it's 30 mins to swap a main board. :)

I'm sure some circuit-board expert with good soldering tools could do that, but where would you buy a single 8600m GPU from? Of course, you could buy a motherboard with it already on, cut it off, then put it on your own motherboard. But if you think about it, it would cost roughly the same as simply replacing the motherboard.
