I want a new XPS 17, but some reviews say the contrast is not good.

I want either the XPS 15 or the 17 with either the 720p or the the 1600x900. I was going to get the XPS 17 but read this review

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-XPS-17-Notebook.42921.0.htmland then some other reviews don't mention this problem.

it said the blacks were grayish. How much stock should I put in this review ?

Also other than that will I regret not buying a 17'' over a 15'' screen ? I''m replacing a desktop and I'm not planning to travel with it ?

Honestly, unless your extremely picky it's not that bad. I bought one for my wife, and there is definitely a viewing anlge sweet spot but it's not so bad that she's ever even mentioned it. To me it looks like a "normal" laptop LCD. I'm sure there are better screens, but for 95% of people I'm sure it's acceptable.

Its not 1080 but its ok. Viewing angles not great but then its not really hard work to adjust the screen and viewing angles are worse on video and pictures but fine when using text on screen regardless of the angle.
I had a 1080 Cinecrystal screen before and I am quite happy using this so don't let it put you off what is a great lappy.
