I seem to remember many people complaining about their fans spinning constantly with a certain bios/driver combo... I want that combo because my GPU runs way too hot and I don't mind the noise. It may be that the main issue was with them starting/stopping constantly so this may not be an avenue to pursue.
Initially i8kfangui was a lifesaver, however, it seemed to make things unstable for me. When I would play games, things would go into "slow motion" or stop, then all the sudden go into warp-speed to catch up. This was completely unrelated to ping and the problem would disappear when I closed i8kfan or changed it to just monitor temps.
Neither riva tuner or speedfan work. It seems my one remaining option is to try and get the same display driver/BIOS combo that had many people in the past complaining about the fans blowing constantly.
My current setup is the A15 BIOS with the 270.61 geforce 8400m GS drivers. I did a factory image restore yesterday and the only changes I've made have been installing the new display drivers, a game (darkfall online), and some tools.
EDIT: just wanted to add some additional info - GPU idles at 70c, gets as hot as 105c when running 3dmark06 w/o i8kfangui. With i8kfangui forcing speeds it gets as hot as 90c. The strange lag issues I get in online games are unrelated to heat: with i8kfangui off, even if the cpu/gpu are scorching, I don't get the same lag I do with it on and they are cool.
EDIT #2: I thought that since the bios and i8kfangui are interfering in some ways (namely, fan control) that flashing my bios to an older version may fix the issue. I tried A12, and it did not. My fans do spin more than they did though at least.
EDIT #3: Have some very specific info on the game lag. When I cast a spell (it's an RPG), I do not see the spell effect or icon (if it's a buff/heal) show up UNTIL I cast another spell. So I can wait a minute and not see the icon until I cast another spell. This makes the issue seem EXTREMELY peculiar, I can't for the life of me figure out how i8kfan would cause this.

I should add that I have already tried other cooling options and they are insufficient:
Laptop pad w/fan: made the biggest difference but not enough to play games for an extended duration
Undervolting: slight difference but not enough
Compressed air clean-up: took out the back panels and cleaned out the dust just a couple weeks ago
Aside from the copper mod, my remaining option seems to be to speed up internal fans. I will not try the copper mod because I have never attempted any internal modification, I am a clumsy person, and I am broke so if I break something then I'm without a computer completely. -
If my post is too vague I would also appreciate help in the form of finding out why i8kfangui causes graphical errors, if I could use it w/o making games unplayable that would be an equally amiable solution. I have tried automatic temperature control and forced high, both cause the weird slow-mo to fast-mo graphical lag. My and enemy's locations on the screen are never where they actually are on the server (it's an MMO).

I know the m1330 is an older model so not many people can help but I would really appreciate any guesses as to what might be happening. Hell even if you know nothing about the m1330 or i8kfangui take a stab because I'm quite stupid and out of ideas.
I want my m1330 fans on high at all times! (but I can't use i8kfan gui)
