I recently installed the latest IDT driver (4/1/2010), but in doing so I seem to have lost the configuration application that comes with it. Perhaps it is just not loading up for some reason, perhaps it was removed by the update... I don't really know. Any thoughts on how I can recover this?

On a side note, I also installed the 10.7 Catalyst package for the Radeon 4670. After installing both of these updates, Starcraft II definitely seems to be performing more poorly. Has anyone else observed this?

*edit: I dated the driver as 4/1/2010, but on the Dell page it says 4/5/2010... I guess the Driver itself is from 4/1, but was released 4/5... in either case, that's the driver I mean.

I haven't tried Catalyst 10.7, but I installed the IDT driver months ago. The Control Panel is working fine for me. The IDT driver fixed my SoundBlaster high CPU usage problems.

Do you think there is a chance that the IDT driver would reduce the performance of some games, or is it just from the ATI driver?

That's what I'm trying to figure out (if it is the audio driver or the video driver)... I installed a different audio driver (new version I think), so I'll check out performance later today.

So new audio drivers didn't make a difference. BUT new mobility radeon drivers came out 10.8 so I installed them. Immediate improvement in fps.

Though there is one complicating factor, so I'll tell the whole story.

I had been using 10.6 for the longest time, and was very happy with my fps in SCII. A few days ago (my first post in this thread), I installed 10.7 and the audio drivers. Immediately I felt my fps was worse than before. Today, I checked my fps (ctrl-alt-f in game) in the combat tutorial and it was only 30fps (noticeably not as smooth as before). Noticed that the 10.8 drivers were out, so I installed them today. Same test (combat tutorial) and I get 45-50fps... booyah! The difference was that I installed 10.7 without first uninstalling 10.6. When I went to 10.8, I uninstalled 10.7 first. I thought that wasn't needed in this day and age, but perhaps it still is. Either that, or 10.7 were just terrible for SCII.

One small update: I finally found out where the Audio control panel went. The update turns off the task bar icon, so that's why I didn't see it anymore. If you go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound, the IDT Audio Control Panel shows up there. Hurray! Oh, and from there the task bar icon can be re-enabled :D
