Today I was going through DELL website and could not see XPS M1730 but Studio XPS. Is it stopped by DELL? Also Studio XPS is in gaming laptops and it doesnot have a hard gaming graphics card like 8800 SLI.

Currently not shown on this page but you can still access the M1730 from the pulldown menu under Products -> Laptops & Mini

EDIT: Just found out. Accessible from this page by clicking on the M1530 above the title "XPS and Gaming Laptops" and not the "Shop XPS Laptops" at the bottom.

    Hi all,

Was thinking about upgrading the HDDs to 7200s, then I noticed they were mostly available in sata-300 interface, does anyone know if that was compatible with the 1730?

Any advice in the HDD upgrade area is much appreciated too.

    Thanx.

What do you mean by "Lapping it up real good?"

Can anyone offer me their experience about CPU upgrades on the M1730 and the steps required, as well as what I should use to clean whatever compound is currently on the heatsink?

I got the X9000 NEW OEM off Ebay (NOT engineering sample). Paid 269£.
