Hi. Yeah, I just need the model name. Manufacturer if you can get it.

    This is what I need:

Go to My Computer, right-click drive and go to Properties. Then the hardware tab and it's the thing that ISN'T your hard drive. Or Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.

    That'd be great, thanks! :)

P.S. If anyone wants to part with theirs for some cash and a Blu-ray reader.....LOL.

Hmm....I don't think the SXPS 16 has the UJ-225 because it's ATA and the SXPS has SATA optical drive connectors.

Could it be the UJ-235? It's the SATA version of it.....

    @Mark

Well, I'd like to get my hands on a burner before I want to sell the reader, but, yeah, I'd be open to selling it to you. :)

Huh...OK. If you wouldn't mind getting the full name, if possible?

I think I read somewhere that the SXPS burner only does 2X burning, while the Panasonic UJ-235 does 4X.

a little off topic question guys, hope you dont mind :) but i currently have the DVD/CD drive in my m1530 and would like to modify it to the panisonic uj-225 or the MATA BD-RE UJ235A (4x).

    1. what interface are these two BD drives?? IDE, EIDE, SATA, PATA??
    2. what interface is the standard DVD/CD (i have not opened my m1530 yet to check.. soon)
    3. is this a plug and play modification? if not, what else needs to be done?

    thanks..

They're both made by Panasonic, BTW.

    1. UJ-225B is IDE/DMA66/ATAPI (all same thing here). UJ-235A is SATA (mobile version).

    2. Can be either...google the model name of your current DVD/CD and whatever interface that is.

    3. Basically. :) Software to burn with?

Perfect! Thanks much. Couldn't find it in a search. Yeah 40 seconds is long but browsing like I did for much longer than that and coming up empty is worse.

just to update, i installed the UJ-225 and it works like a charm. only problem (not expected) is my media direct no longer supports the new drive. it no longer boots up in that partion. but i guess it does not really matter much to me as i didnt have the BD software anyways in media direct. i ended up downloading the trial version of powerDVD 9 :)

just curious, why media direct would complain that i have a BD drive?
