I just bought an xps 1530 and did a clean install. My question when a turn up/down the volume/brightness should there be any indication on screen the level my volume/brightness is at? If so im missing it and what would do i need to do to get it back?

you want to use dell quickset, it shows an indication on the screen for both volume and brightness. You can get that from dells drivers site.

Along with this, does anyone know how to get the quickset icon to STAY where you move it to? Mine is in kind of a random place in the upper left and I'd like to have it stay in the lower right.
