M'09 is the model number of the latest remote, with pix. It's made by Philips. Dell part # NU853 ($49.99). I have also ordered Dell part # 412-1072 that is the Travel Remote for the XPS 13 ($23.99), I'll report back to everyone if it's the same.

I have the m'08 and it works fine with the xps 1340 but it does not plug in flush with the express card slot. wondering if the m'09 does?

I don't know, XPS 1645 documentation makes reference to a 1647, that's all I know.
Regarding the remote controls, the one Dell sent me for XPS 1645 is model number nu851, and that's what you will get if you order the XPS 13 Travel Remote. Go for it. -

I think someone on here mentioned that the 1647 would be available with the new dual core i5 processors launched next year.
I've no idea if that is correct just what I read on here. -
