Has anyone been able to upgrade their XPS m170 with 4 gig of ram? I just purchased a 2x2gig set of ps2-5300 ram, and when I try to boot my laptop with it, just a couple of lights flash and then it shuts down. I tried each stick alone, in each of the two spots, and the work fine alone. I called Dell, and they said this laptop only supports 2 gig of ram... any way to still get the 4 gigs to work? Did they put a hard stop in the BIOS? Are we able to change that?

Thanks so much for any help!

it is a bios limitation, 2 gigs is the max for that model
