I just installed Win7 on notebook and unfortunaly I can't get the sound to work. It works on Headphones but not on notebook speakers. Wonder what could be the reason.

I went throught Troubleshooting > Hardware and sound > Playing Audio and it gives me 2 options and both are the same, "SPEAKERS- High Definition Audio Device. The Connector for this device is located on the front side of the computer" There are two of those....Where is the regular mixer control panel?

I think I will change it back to Vista if I can't get the sound working.
Dissapointed with this.

Dude don't give up that fast! I'm using M1330 with Win 7 ultimate and I have sound on it! Let me help you to find the driver...

Yeah don't go back to Vista as there is nothing in Win7 that will stop your speakers working. Have you installed the 32 or 64bit OS? If 64bit then head over to my driver thread for all the tried and tested 64bit drivers for the M1330.

If 32bit then the above thread will at least give you a starting point. Don't forget that the majority of the official Dell M1330 Vista 32bit drivers should work ok with Win7.
By the sounds of it, if you have the headphones / HDMI working then this is not a driver issue and could be a hardware issue. The analogue feed that sends audio to your headphones is the same as the feed that is sent to the speakers the switch between the two is a mechanical one triggered by the insertion of a headphone cable. -
I did installed 64bit Win7. I did go to your thread and downloaded the drivers ITD but they didn't install. I couldn't see them on the control panel.
I am at work now but I remember that's what happened.
O.T. My brother gave me this computer as a gift today because his HDD went out for 2nd time since he bought it. I just went out and bought a HDD and installed my new Win7. This computer gets HOTTT!!! He moved to the Envy14, I love this little XPS. My current is a Inspiron 1520... TOO HEAVY.
Installed Win7 on xps m1330, now NO sound.
