    Hi,

I am currently installing Windows 7 64bit on my Dell XPS M1730 and need some advice. I previously had the 32bit version installed and was using I8kfangui to monitor my fans, however, I tried installing it on the 64bit version and now I am getting some error saying that the driver does not have a virtual digital signature...is there a different application I can use to control fan speed?

Also I have two hard drives in RAID (this is the first time I have had this setup) and am a bit confused, now that I have reinstalled Windows do I need to do anything to set RAID up again? It was previously done for me so I'm not too sure if I need to do anything special.

Any other advice for helpful applications or drivers to download, especially since I am using Windows 7 instead of Vista? I have updated most drivers already.

    Thank You

I'm not sure of a program to control fan speed. Hove you considered putting your computer into test mode?

"The TESTSIGNING boot configuration option determines whether Windows Vista and later versions of Windows will load any type of test-signed kernel-mode code. This option is not set by default, which means test-signed kernel-mode drivers will not load by default on 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and later versions of Windows,"

in case you didn't already know. I have both of my laptops in this mode, in order to use the drivers I want to use.

Not sure about RAID, think that would have been configured during windows 7 installation. You can also configure it by hitting Ctrl + I just after the Dell screen on startup I think. Changing the config will erase the drives though.

Can't think of anything useful for you to install. I had a hard time finding all the drivers. I couldn't find one for the Blueray player and that eventually resulted in it being replaced under warranty. If you can't find some though, I could probably upload some somewhere.

You can install i8k on 64bit Windows, but you have to jump through hoops (as you've found out). There's a driver you can download somewhere out there; use your Google-fu.
