I recently got a xps m1530 with vista home pre-installed. I cleared it down to get rid of bloatware and then re-installed vista as I always do with new laptops. Everything was fine for the first few days now every time I install a new program it corrupts the mbr. If I put the vista disc in and repair it everything is fine again until I install another program. Has anyone seen this problem before?

What programs are causing the error?
-
First program was Azureus then Java then Adobe Reader 9 and they all corrupted it. After I repaired each time I could start up and shut down no problem. I'm installing iTunes at the moment so I'll see if that does it as well. I was thinking it might have been caused by step 3 of this tweaking guide so I changed it back to the default.

Yep iTunes corrupted it as well.
Heres the error when I try to boot -
This seems to happen quite a bit - have you turned off windows update to see if that helps?
Check out the link below- same issue and several steps he used to work the issue.

Disabled windows update and it rebooted twice with no problems.
Then uninstalled iTunes and rebooted. Back to corrupt mbr
I don't want to do a format and re-install yet but this problem has me really baffled? -
I gave up on this one and just re-installed vista, hopefully doesn't happen again.

Could be hard drive problem.
Do the long diagnose on the hard drive?
Installing programs corrupts the mbr???
