I was wondering, is there absolutely any way to transfer your programs and files to Windows 7 when you do a clean install? (So I can dual-boot)

Or could you at least do the update option when you install windows 7, reinstall vista, and then do a system restore with vista?

    Yep.

Make a seperate Partition for WIndows 7 (At least 15GB). Then install it on that partition. Both OS's will be seperate. When you start you PC, it will give you a list of your OS's. You select which one to boot from. ;)

Or are you referring to transfering your programs form Vista to 7 ?

    Oh, that's ok. :)

What you have to do is...
To get windows 7 to regognise the vista partition, go to start, right click computer, go to Manage. Then Disk management. I'm the graph/list, find the vista partion and make the drive letter of that A or Z, any letter not yet used. ;)

Now go into Computer. You should see drive C, which is windows 7. And drive A, which should be vista partition. Now yoican go intothere, and transfer the program files or documents over to the windows 7 partion. Most program will work properly this way, but some will need a clean exe install.

    ;)
