Hey guys i just ordered my dell xps 15 laptop. After i purchased it i saw that hp had a slightly better computer. Called up Dell THREATEN to cancel the order and they offered me 35 dollars to keep the dell.
MORAL OF TEH STORY: even if you dont want to cancel it, call up dell and say you do and you get addition 35 dollars off your total before the taxes. So its come out to a little more than 35.

And if the threat doesn't work, you look like an @ss and risk the rep taking you at your word and cancelling your order
-
Jesus I got off more than 35 dollars. Okay original order was 839.99 * 8.625 that comes out to 915.34
Now 839.99-35 = 804.99 times that by sales tax and i got 869$ THATS A WHOPPING 45 dollars off
Work for me so i dont seem why it shouldnt work for you guys because they wouldnt want to loose another customer. THINK ABOUT IT -
except HP doesn't have a slightly better computer
All they have is a much higher class computer (EliteBook 8540w) and a much worse computer (dv6t) -
not true, hp dv6t quad edition is has a better processor and better gpu than xps 15. gt 540m vs hd 6770. and the hp was 10 dollars cheaper.
-
but the lack of the option for a screen better than 1366x768 is criminal, and is why I refuse to hold the notebook to a standard much higher than the Inspirons. If HP would fix this minor little detail I'd consider the dv6t a worthy competitor of the XPS 15.
-
But i ordered th exps with the stock screen for reasons.
-
in that case, the dv6t is probably much better.
If you know what's good for you, cancel and re-order with 1080p. It's a stupid decision to upgrade ANYTHING on the XPS without upgrading the screen first because the screen is the most important upgrade on the XPS 15. The standard 720p screen is terrible while the B+RGLED screen is one of the best you can buy.
You really oughta cancel the order, but I'm actually getting quite tired of using all my energy to convince people to upgrade to 1080p. If you're not going to do it, all I can say is enjoy your crappy computer. -
P.S. you don't know much about screen's if you think the B+RGLED is "one of the best you can buy"
To the OP nice discount, hope you enjoy your new purchase -
I'm not trolling. Please do not try to accuse me of doing something that I'm not doing. My opinion matches that of a lot of people here. I'm just one of the few who try really hard to actually show people difference between the screens, and show them why the XPS 15's 720p is not nearly as good as the 1080p, or even other 720p screens out there. It just gets obnoxious when I give someone legitimate reasons on why they should get the B+RGLED display and all they do is keep asking why they "really need it."
I know B+RGLED isn't the best you can buy. It's one of the best you can buy on a consumer laptop but I never said it was the best. Of course the RGBLED's in the M6400/M6500/M4400/M17xR2/EliteBooks are better than the B+RGLED by a varying degree, but those are all business notebooks with the exception of the M17xR2 which isn't sold new anymore and costed a lot more anyway. -
You definitely have a valid point, but i don't think its fair to say to someone that they are buying a crappy computer especially when that person points out that they bought it with that screen for a specific reason.
-
How is the computer crappy? I can just connect it to my external monitor and game.....? TROLL
-
ok really?
the other posts in this thread already went over this.
Could everyone just stop firing off? All I'm trying to do is help, and sometimes it takes being "assertive" to convince people to choose the good option on something. Maybe in this case it wasn't necessary but sometimes in order it takes a bit more power than simple logical reasoning provides, in order to convince some people. -
