The Intel Extreme Solid State Drive is due out soon. Built on the SLC technology, should prove to be one of the best.
My future plans for my xps m1530 is to upgrade to X9000 CPU, X-25E SSD.
My thoughts are Intel Chipset, Intel Extreme CPU, Intel Extreme Hard drive, Intel 4945 wireless card. Compatability should not be an issue!

Looks like a good combo with your M1530. I'd wait till they get the 128GB+ SSDs in those though. Maybe until the prices drop too. Out of the topic, but how did you get the "red" version of M1530? I noticed the video card is a bit older... :p

I have a test laptop at work with the 1.8" Intel X-18M 80GB in it.

It is the fastest SSD (or HD) I have tested. It blows everything else away.

the ssd's that dell are shipping are not intel and they are based on mlc technology. which is slower. my video card is 8400 not 8600, had i known much about the video cards i would have opted for the 8600. too late now tho.
Mine is the "product (red)" with ultimate installed, which donates x number of dollars to aids in africa.
Plus it had 500.00 off special at the time.

Gotcha- I would not be too 'excited' unless you have some real "Laptop Reserve funds$$$$" - The MLC's from Dell are expensive enough - can't imagine how much they will charge for the SLC's - based on how much SLC's cost even at 64GB.

right now they want an arm and a leg for the slc. The lottery may be my only chance for a while. Like that is gonna happen.
I still like to dream about a max performance laptop.

Ha - nice. Well I spec'd the best Dell would allow - and with the x9000 and the 128ssd's its a pretty snappy laptop for sure. Too bad the XPS's are going way from top-end tech in favor of mid-line/mid-price performers. Based on how things are going now the next level performance ssd's will probably come out in the AW laptop's first.
