Has anyone tried this or even thought to try this? I want to know if besides differing capacities if there are different speeds/classes of the device that are faster than others. Is NAND flash super fast, or just USB drive fast? There's that extra internal WWAN slot that I wouldn't mind filling up with this stuff once I find out the details.

One question, the internal WWAN port is a full mini-Express slot, correct? The PAN slot is the one that only has USB connections, and LAN/WLAN has both.

I assume your laptop only supports the 1/2 / 1gb cards? If so then I would not bother with them as neither will really speed up your machine that much. Better to save your pennies and get yourself an SSD....assuming you are not that bothered about disc size.

The WWAN / WLAN slots are both mini-express. Mine used to be fitted in the WWAN slot.

I'm hoping to get a 4GB card, I'm also thinking of getting an 48GB ExpressCard SSD now if I can afford it and using it for ReadyBoost/Drive. It should have a similar effect. 120MB reads/65MB writes.
