So, before updating my Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN Wireless adapter on my XPS M1530, my connection to my router was only 39mbps/52mbps/54mbps. I noticed that on Intel's site, they have a driver for this card released within the last two weeks.
Now what is my connection speed? Anywhere from 58-79mbps. Range hasn't increased, but my throughput is a lot better!!
How I updated:
- Download the file located HERE
- Extract the .zip (Or, drag the "Disk" folder onto your desktop)
- Right-click my computer, and go to Properties
- On the left-hand side, click Device Manager
- Go to Network Adapters, and click the + sign
- Right-click the Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, and click "Update Driver Software"
- Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
- Find the "Disk" folder that you dragged onto your desktop, navigate to the 32 folder (or 64 if you're using a 64bit OS)
- More than likely, it will be this location: "C:\Users\**YOURNAME**\Desktop\Disk\Vista\Drivers\v32(OR 64)
- And let it go!!
Hope this helps, I like the increase![]()

Nice results, and thanks for sharing the *How-To's

I hope those speeds are with a G router.

G router can't go above 54mbps.
I'm about thirty feet away from a DGL-4500, a Wireless N router. I'm also going through about 3 OLD walls, too. -

Dude. That is what is screwing you. You need 5GHz to open that baby up. Or you could get a router that can do both at the same time. I think I am going to get the D-Link DIR-855. You should be able to get over 200 with that card. I have read of lots of real world tests over 100 even at 2.4Ghz though.

Good stuff bro, thanx!
