    Hey there,

I thought that today when i game i should run HWMonitor in the back. I did and the results seemed shocking to me...

I got 94c on my GPU, 72c on my T7250 CPU (Which is undervolted to 1V from 1.7Vs).

I have a notebook cooler and ArticSilver5 in my system... should the temps be lower after playing Age of Empires on high settings for 2 hours.

Its not a very demanding game. :/

If you're not activating Vsync, the GPU is always gonna run at 100%, even if you're only playing diablo 2

right mouse click on desktop, go to nvidia control panel, under global settings, you could turn vertical sync to force on rather than let use the 3d application option. I don't really know if this would do you a lot of good with temperature changes though. Anyone else care to provide input?

Anything above 80C is going to start dropping the life off heavily. 80C=greater than 10 years life. 105C=less than 6 months life. It's also exponential so 94C is probably really bad on it.

Are these assumed speculations or well-supported and documented facts? If latter, please provide the specific reference to which you've attained the info. This is news to me.

Anything above 85C is a cause for concern.
Have you cleaned the fan and the vents?
If there`s dust in the system, that`s why you`re experiencing such high temps.
Also, lift the back of the laptop a bi(1-2 inches) and temps will drop 5-10C.

I have the 9-Cell battery, shouldn't the uplift from that be enough or should I raise it higher?

Also whats strange is that I played crysis in 1024 x 846 (I can't remember the 8xx figure) and everything on high, and I overclocked it to 600/1200/800 and played for nearly and hour. I monitored the temps within Rivatuner and the temps never passed 80c... It vaired between 79c and 80c after the first 5mins of gameplay...

Odd if you ask me, but then again I played double the time on Age of Empires without the OC.

I'm using the 175.63 Nvidia driver (64-Bit Vista) that I got from LV2G

Also how do I find out the BIOS version anyone?

I used GPU-z to find my GPU info and it says unkown..

Also I've spotted that my GPU is know as the G84 which is clearly the 8400M right?

Just so I know is th G86 merly an OC'd G84?

Just noticed. Damn! 1.7000V -> 1.000V is a huge difference! It's stable at almost half the voltage??!

Your temps seems way to high. My GPU peaks at 75C. Try with a different driver, though I don't think that will matter much...
You can check your biosversion when the computer boots, the latest should be A08..

I'm fairly sure that the game you play does affect your temps some since different games may utilize the card differently. For instance, playing Oblivion my GPU temp stays at about 70 and my CPU temps at 60. When I play Anarchy Online, though, my GPU temp goes up to 80 and my CPU temps also go to 80. You should check to see if they're lower with a different game.

those temps are way too high... I think his card may be defective. Still try other drivers like people are suggesting. On my 8600m GS I noticed the temps did low when I changed the drivers.
