Can I have 8gb ram in this Dell XPS M1530, which can run Vista 64?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with 4gb ram. I've used Vista 64 and have had very little problems. Now I would like to do more and need to go beyound 4gb. If I can't use more ram in this laptop it will soon be a bookend. Why would the motherboard and cpu be 64 capable and you can't use more than 4gb. I've heard different comments from some people who say you can and others who say you can't. I can't think the motherboard slots only support 2gb each . On top of that, the Dell Support Center software reports 4 slots. So, are 2 slots hidden in the laptop case. Or, is the motherboard low end and only supports 2gb each and it really only has 2 slots and 2gb per slot?
Has my laptop nearly become a Bookend or do I need to give it to my wife to do her email? Or, can I add more ram?

as long as you have latest BIOS (A12), 8GB support was added in one of the earlier ones I think.
you will have to install 2x 4GB DDR2 SO-DIMMS which are quite expensive, but I dont see why it wouldn't work for you
there is only two physical slots -
It can take 2x4GB DDR2 memory.

I have A12 and 8gb RAM installed on mine. Newegg or Amazon sells affordable RAMs. It has only two slots for memories. 4gb is standard now so I don't think the 1530 will be a bookend anytime soon.
Is Dell XPS M1530 a Bookend - More Memory for Dell XPS M1530 > 4gb
