I just got my new xps17 laptop last week and enjoy it for sure.

But it becomes toooooooo hot when i was playing 3d game like sc2 or TF2 or even Dungeon Defender.

Here is two questions about my xps 17. Is 75"c degree are normal for gt555?

And if not, how to measure the temperature( someone told me that the result which measured by the software is not reliable) and make my laptop cooler?

    Thank you

75C is an okay temperature for a GPU. Generally they are rated up to 120C, but you don't want to get higher than about 85-90C.

I used a XPS 17 at work with the GT555M. The cooling system is okay on it. 75C is definitely well within the safety zone, as namaiki stated, 85C+ for prolonged periods is where you start hitting the danger zone. Worst case, have you considered repasting the GPU? Also cleaning out all the dust in the heatsinks/heatfins/fan?

As has been said, 75C is NOT too hot at all. Mine tops around 80C, and 70-80C is average. Nothing to worry about until around 90C or so.

    It's only too hot when:

    A) Thermal throttling occurs, and/or
    B) The laptop's palm rest causes you physical pain

I monitor mine with MSI afterburner, you can use afterburner even if you don't OC your GPU. You can display temps in the task bar and also display temps on screen in game play if desired.
