Hey there I live all the way out in North Cyprus and Dad is in the UK atm...
I have the opportunity to buy a fully loaded refurbished M1330 for £600, Its 14-Day returned stock so its all in perfect condition it even has all the clear plastic over the laptop and the touch buttons...etc.
Is it worth buying it now.. Or waiting for after the 14th for Intel's new CPUs?
If I was to buy a laptop after my dad's return, I wouldn't be able to buy a laptop until september, which me being the excited teen I am... Can't wait for his toys![]()

At that price, which is probably little over half what you would have paid in August 2007, I would grab it. Montevina may be about to arrive but it won't make Santa Rosa obsolete overnight, however much Intel and the computer manufacturers would like us all to queue up to buy the latest.
At the moment we don't know how good supplies will be of the new hardware. Last year some people had to wait 2 or 3 months for their M1330s.
I would expect that a £600 M1330 bought now will out-perform the £600 version of whatever replaces it (until 6 or 12 months down the road when they hack the prices).

Well Its:
2.4Ghz CPU
4GB RAM
320GB HDD
Porduct Red (Well its red)
LED Screen -
Oh and 9-Cell battery
-
get it, for that price its a bargain!
-
Yeah get it now. Then wait... Montevina comes out.. then Nehalem... then when Calpella comes out, then think about getting a new notebook. Though it should last you for longer than that unless games have become hyperrealistic.

Don't you think its stupid how we know what we're about to buy is out dated?
I mean Forte's example about CPUs
-
If the specs works for your computing purposes, thats a steal price.
If you like having the latest and greatest, then you should wait for the new line. But then gaian, how quickly does the latest and greatest last? -
My PC is 8 years old this year - don't talk to me about outdated!
What he's saying is, is that these "updates" are usually minor. Montevina? The end user will probably notice very little, maybe an extended battery life. Manufacturers hype it all way overboard - that means people will buy new stuff regularly. -
I believe outdated would depend on what you use your computer for.
May I ask what you use your computer for? -
That's pretty decent for that price, I would get it. Montevina won't be that large of a jump. Nahalem will though.

Needs to go soon though, even open source stuff is starting to ditch me, firefox for eg.
