I have a Xps M1530 with the 8600GT videocard. Is it possible to connect a
30" screen and get the maximum resulotion?

Not a chance in terms of gaming.
The resolution of 2560x1600 should be ok for desktop, but I wouldn`t count on it for graphical work.

I dont want to gamble, atleast not videogames. I want to play alot of pokertables. But still aint sure that my computer suport that kind of resolution. Heard something about that you need dual-dvi. Before xps came out it was only macbook and some mega HP(I think) that supported that screen.
Someone who have tried it or know for sure that it works?

First off whats the res of the 30 inch?

Assuming1920*1080 I think thats the max the card can output via hdmi, but could be wrong.
Dvds, blu-rays, light gaming like a fairly static pokergame = no probs at all.
Heavy gaming, as in actual fps type, high graphics gaming = not a hope.

I hook up to a 42" plasma and and 50" LCD all the time via HDMI, just movies and tv shows tho. It looks great, but I doubt it could handle gaming.

the resolution would be 2560x1600, a full HD tv is only 1920*1050. Some xps modells have 1900*1200 as native res. So full HD aint any problems.. Its the next steps that I'm not sure of.

If your computer has dual dvi you can output it to 2560x1600. If not, you`d be limited in resolution.
    And the 30 inch`s native res is 2560x1600 ...
So you wouldn`t be able to use its native res.

Macbook pro's (current ones anyway) have 9600m gt,

I don't mean it won't output 2560*1600, it probably will but I think it will be a slide-show at best, This card just isn't that good - well I don't think it'd be up to it anyway.

I don't think it can output to 30in screen with resolution 2560x1600. HDMI is limited to 1920x1200, unless it's the newer HDMI 1.3 which I'm sure the XPS M1530 doesn't have.
