If you look at the Dell website, the m1330, m1530, and m1710 are listed simply as "XPS Notebooks". The m1730 and m2010 are listed as "XPS Gaming".

couldn't have said it more clear, for 2g with no coupon you can get yourself a very... very good balance laptop, lighter in weight, thin, GREAT performance and most of all... it aint gonna cost you 4g+. I had the alienware m7700, biggest waste of money i have ever bought. I'm waiting for around X-mas to place my order for M1530 I think I was right to wait till this comes out instead of buying 1520 or HP DV6500t. plus dell owns alienware, why they need to compete, their targeting customers are younger professionals who are looking for a better balance of style and performance.

and think about it, do you really need a ultra high performance laptop unless your work demands it?

i thought the xps1530 was actually crap
i hated the design, it looks excatlly like a bigger version of xps1330
also the specs are that great either; bascially same specs as a mbp
    but cheaper
i thought it would be cool like the 1730 with all the luminated keyboards and the resolution of the screen on 1530 is outrageously rubbish

Well, the leaked photos showed it was going to be the same thing design-wise as the 1330, so must of us aren't surprised by that.

As far as illuminated keyboards go - I think it is just a battery drainer and not needed on the 1530 (the 1730 doesn't get more than 90 minutes on battery so the illuminated keyboard doesn't really matter).

The screen resolution options are going to be up on the configurator in approx 2-3 weeks. Wait till then if it bothers you that much....

Are you 13 or something? It's as fast or faster than it's competition and signficiantly cheaper. What did you want them to put in this thing? It intentionnally looks like the m1330 which IMO makes it a sharp looking laptop. There are *many* uglier units out there.

And that's where your opinion differs from thousands of others! Dell wouldn't bring out a 15" version of the m1330 if they didn't think it was going to sell just as well (if not better) than the m1330.

IMO, the m1330 was the first laptop Dell ever produced which from a design perspective, can be considered absolutely beautiful (even more so than the sMack Book Pro).

No one is forcing you to buy the m1530, so why does it seem your whole life has been ruined? Get over it.

another kid talking I guess... the design is exactly what Dell was trying to copy over from the m1330 since everyone liked it.. well .. maybe everyone minus a couple of kids who like blinking LEDs...

I just wish they copied a few more features over from the M1330 too.. like
    A) long battery life
    B) super thin and light
    C) Beautiful state-of-the-art LED display
