Hey i know dell has alienware and all but is their xps gaming dead? because their not gonna put ddr3 and all the new stuff in the m1730 and also their desktops never got the new nvidia and ati graphic cards.

I remember when XPS was the best in gaming lets remember the 4 graphic cards they put into their systems. so great

Its possible (and I have heard it many times) that Dell are simply going to use Alienware for 'their' high-end gaming laptops from now on.

However, there are indications that Dell will adopt the Ati 4xxx series cards on some laptops shortly (check the other threads for info) so I guess we will know soon. I would not be too surprised to see a new Dell laptop with 4850s or 4870s before Q3.

i agree with V___C, dell is going to use Alienware for their "gaming" notebooks and use the Studio XPS (or newer series) for their Multi-media powerhouse notebooks.

i kinda hope they make a 17in laptop to replace their 1730. only problem with that is, other ppl would want the 9800 or better graphics card on it, and i highly doubt that will surface.

i hope they make an 18in laptop to counter the HP HDX 18. would be nice, even tho it may be a little heavu to carry around.

I believe they don't even feature their XPS M1730 anymore. Since they bought Alienware, I doubt they will create more gaming models. They already have the M15x and M17x on their site.

I think they're focusing more on average consumers and not on the small niche of high-end laptop gamers.
