Is it okay to buy XPS 1530 with 8600 GT? I ask this because there has been reports that all the Nvidia graphic cards are all faulty to some extent. I am considering a purchase of a 1530 XPS.

Wayyy wayyy to many people post about this ... once again I will say as long as you have it under warranty you have nothing to worry about. Also, yes it is a problem but it is not as widespread as everyone is making it out to be. As soon as their temps go up a bit, they freak and say it is defective (of course it will run warm ... IT'S A LAPTOP) ... but anyways you shouldn't let that hold you back. Take advantage of the 30% off deals and such that they have now.

There's hardly any deals where I'm from, best I'm going to get is a few bucks off. Also, warranty doesn't really matter in this situation. I'm about to travel to a country for a long time which doesn't have Dell and I can't afford on it breaking down on me. Should I just avoid this?

    Hey there!

I have had my 1530 since January, and I have the 8600 GT...and I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. ;) :)

My lappy runs fast and runs well ;) :)

So, if you want to order it with the 8600 GT why not?? In the end, its your own ultimate decision! ;)

    :) Hope that helps.

    Cin ;) :)

Thanks for the feedback, but I think the conclusion is that I can't choose the XPS 1530 because of the much reported heating problems and a possible defective GPU. I might be opting for the Studio 15 instead.
