Is it possible for me to do this?

I am planning of returning my xps16 because the fan doesn't work. However, is there anyway that I can bargain with Dell(and if so, with whom at dell) so that instead of returning it, I allow a dell technician to return it under the condition that they give me an incentive not to return it(such as an extra years worth warranty)? If so, who should I speak to about this? Should I ask the dell technician that customer service will transfer me too or should I ask the not-really-knowledgeable customer service rep. who transfered me to the technician? Or should I call my original sales rep. from whom I purchased the system from and say something like "Hey, I will be returning the product(hence, you will lose your sale) if you do not extend my warranty for 1 extra year since I lost trust in this product"?

    Please help out. thanks

It can't hurt to try I guess.

You'd probably need to start by speaking to a Tech Rep so that it gets raised on your account as a problem; then maybe speak to customer services with your suggestion. You could try to talk with the original sales rep, but he probably gets the commission regardless of whether you return it - because if you are returning it due to a technical fault then it's hardly fair for Dell to penalise the sales rep.

However, whatever you do, do it quickly. You only have a small window of opportunity to return your item.
